We had so much fun hanging with the fam making Christmas cookies - we made angels (they were NOT butterflies), stars and heart sugar cookies and bears and dogs cinnamon cookies. The cool thing was the recipes were from an old cookbook of my mothers from the 1800's - I don't know if it was my grandmothers or if it was a yardsale find - with my mom either was possible.

Today I was at the Woburn Mall to pick up something that Jim is going to LOVE - yes I am sure he is!
And I stopped to take a picture of these cute little people for you all :-)
And this lovely old woman gave me a beautiful true smile and I thought to myself that THAT smile was what Christmas was all about, well fast forward 30 seconds and a man comes in and sees her and grabs her brusquely and tells her he is taking her back to the shelter and she shouldn't pull stuff like this. And I *know* where he is at. I am sure that he was worried and that he was just spouting but it struck a chord in me. I wanted to save her - and there was no way I could, if I said something it would just make him more angry and I was sure he would yell at her more! And in all honesty I could see her point AND HIS. She was checking out the season and he was worrying about her. I have been on both sides of this. I have been worried and caused more than my fair share of worry, But I had to save her, I am sure if Jim was with me or my mother was with me they would have told me to send good thoughts into the universe and leave well enough alone. I am not them and I couldn't so I ran into CVS to grab a teddy bear to hand her and I couldn't find one so I grabbed a 4 or 6 inch teddy bear chocolate and I ran out the door and met up with the two as they were at their car and handed it to her and said " thank you for the best smile I have gotten all season I needed you, Merry Christmas" They were both a little calmer and happier going on their way and I was too. Hopefully her night was a good one.

Sorry for the rant I just needed to get it out.
